...but who "owns" the original which was scanned to produce these images? According to the mark on one of the sheets, it's the intellectual property of Bordens themselves - if the firm still exists, surely they should be asked. I don't suppose the person who scanned the image asked for Bordens' permission. If "Thecmn" refuses, or - worse - asks for commission, I think you could ignore it. What do others think?

Some of the earlier talk is that they are old enough not to have to worry about copyrights

I am just asking for permission because I do not want to get the museum into legal trouble. For selling them. And I not lawyer and not sure where the term for donation stands.

All money is going to the museum plus the PDFs if I get okay.

This cut-outs being so old, I doubt anyone at Borden today even remembers them.

Surely the people running the business now were born several decades after they were released.

I wonder if you will get an answer from them at all. If you do, please share it with us so that we can learn more about how this particular company handles the subject.

My opinion is that since the cut-outs display a trademark that is still owned by an active company, there may be some reluctance to someone outside the business to distribute an object displaying their name/logo.

But let's wait and see what they say.
