I wonder, on balance, how superstructure could survive after the catastrophic explosion during the sinking. Similar to HMS Barham, but take it that artistic interpretation has a lot of wriggle room.

Model Quote: "It is the sunken battleship Yamato. It is a diorama model of a red rusted battleship "Yamato" that leaves only the bridge in the dried up sea a little in the future.
This work is fiction. This setting is fictitious and has nothing to do with the actual sink situation of Yamato. "

Apparently this is what the Yamato wreck looks like (I assume buried beneath debris, sand and ocean growth)

Yes, this model is more a homage to the iconic scenes in the first episodes of Space Battleship Yamato than a representation of the actual ship. Otherwise, why the obviously dry seabed instead of bluish underwater hues?

BTW, regarding the "2099" remake: IIRC in response to the discovery of the broken wreck pictured in airdave's post, they changed the plot: the original ship is just a shell camouflaging a brand-new spaceship instead of being intact enough to be retrofitted as in the original show.

This one certainly is flying right along!
The las model I built from them was the Kirishima. It seemed to take forever for the last several pages to drop.
