Announced at papermodel.jp: IJN Yamato (sort of)

After the recent IJN submarine, seaplane tender and assault carrier models, our friends at papermodel.jp have just announced a 1/350 IJN Yamato, but not the whole ship. It's hard to characterize, but it resembles the Space Battleship Yamato anime's scenario: a rusting bridge and forecastle buried in a dry seabed. Interesting and rather depressing IMHO.

Very interesting!
I've been interested in building the Space Battleship Yamato for years!
And UHU02 is currently designing the Original Battleship Yamato now!

it is a very unique interpretation of the Yamato to be sure.

I am really enjoying the different subjects Heppoko is releasing

Speaking of Space Battleship Yamato:
Has anyone watched the movie from 2010?
I watched it a few years ago and thought it wasn't half bad, considering it's been decades since I watched Star Blazers as a young teen.

Atom, who runs Glue Chronicle and is in Japan will purchase items available only in Japan and send them to you for a fee.
This is a note on the website:

I can support your shopping in Japan.
Mail me, if you are interested.
I believe JohnM used that service to get some paper models. You can contact him and see how things went.

I did indeed use Atom's services to obtain some otherwise impossible to get KaiCraft animal models. A very successful deal resulted in these beauties gracing my shelves ...

My first encounter with the Yamato was in the Yoko Tsuno album "La Fille du Vent" (1979) where its wreck is used by the bad guy as a base to launch tornado-generating missiles. The same album also has hovercraft-launched fighter bombers to destroy those tornadoes (using conventional and nuclear weapons).

More pics here (you can see the hovercraft but not the 2 rocket planes it carries inside).

edit: actually there's a page with them here: https://p3.storage.canalblog.com/33/...2/58555544.jpg

Reasonably faithful to the anime's spirit, while getting rid of the silliest plot points. Nice visuals. Personal sacrifices galore. Top-notch soundtrack, and of course that glorious main theme.
