Dear Friends:
Got ink for printer stuck at home this was the best one page model to get back to paper modeling. Still have to finish second barge. Let the pictures be the words, added some water to the diorama
Enjoy

There are models now: A ship Irene Abicht in 1:100 scale and a nice Mercedes Unimog U 1000.

Thanks for these models!

Hi Miles

No - the building is not the headquarters of the company, it is just a set of warehouses in Hamburg, Germany. Yes there is water at the base of the buildings - these are dock-side warehouses. Quite a few survived the "attention" of the allied bombers and have been restored. The rather good Hamburg maritime museum is in a much larger warehouse and well worth a visit.

Interesting the model of the Irene Abicht has appeared. I got a printed copy of the model in 1:250 scale from a friend of Peter Brandt at the last Bremerhaven model show. It is rather small at 1:250 so better to try it at 1:100.

David

Nice work, Miles! And thanks for the additional information, David.

I love those European quayside buildings. Baltimore did not have anything exactly like that in the 1950s, when I used to rove the harbor, but there were a lot of interesting-looking warehouses and other buildings right next to the water. One of the few that still exists is the Domino Sugar warehouse in the Inner Harbor, which is still operating, so that most days there is a cargo ship tied up there,

Don
