USGS Paper Models and Geology Reports

Hi all,

I picked this link up from the USGS and their Instagram feed

The landing page has various reports, from the late 1980s and early 1990s on various Geologic features and and fossils, and with each report a paper model, or models are included.

There are models for coral reefs, faults, sand dunes, and the Antarctic

Good for science fair projects, or earth science lessons at home, and you get to build a paper model, which are in black and white, so you can even color the model to make it more visually appealing and maybe more understandable.

some of the models even have movement in them
fault blocks move in the earthquake models, and showing how the Earth moved during that event

Interesting collection of ideas. Would love to see the USGS update them with color.

When I first got into this hobby, the SS42 site used to have a link to the USGS models. Some of these are newer, but some of the others aren't in the current location. I'll have to do a Wayback Machine search for them


And none of them were in color either
