Caudron c460 at thompson trophy 1/66

Crown of flowers, photo pose... a capture of the moment.

The story of the RACING CAUDRON'S continues.....

1936: The french famous pilot Michel Détroyat is invited by the Americans to take part in the Nationales Air Races.

In response to a request from the Air Ministry, Francois Lehideux, President of Caudron S.A., responds favourably by entrusting Détroyat with a Caudron C460.
At the moment, air competitions: Greve and Thompson Trophies, are considered, in America, as the most important in the world.

In 1936, the races took place from 4 to 8 September 1936 at Mines Field, near Los Angeles .
Greve Trophy: Détroyat came in first place with an average speed of 397.423 km/h, about 50 km/h faster than its competitors.
Thompson Trophy: It finished first again with an average speed of 425.194km/h ahead of Eart Urtman who, with a Keith Reider 1000hp Pratt & Whitney plane, achieved an average of 413km/h, 12km less than Detroyat.

The triumph is total for Détroyat, Riffard and Caudron-Renault.
