Hi All,

This might be of particular interest to the members who are/were Devil Dogs OOHRAH!!!

Jules, and paper-replika.com have released in their Paper Soldier series of figures, a Marine of the 3rd Marine Recon.

USMC 3rd Recon Force | Paper Soldier

a 4 sheet pdf, 3 with the parts.

I have already printed my copy, and will probably start it tonight

I like it, but I would have to change the shoulder patch to Ranger Inf, or Special Forces.
That way I can have both special Ops figures, Marine and Army.

Nice figure, Rick.

Would have to have different (older) gear to have a 1st SOC patch, though, silveroxide, no?

Don, not sure if SilverOxide would need older gear or just a random selection of individually selected (lethal) toys - don't think I ever saw two SF geared up the same (and I was constantly amazed at the ingenuity and inventiveness the Rangers showed in their selection of toys ...)

Yogi --Quite true about the "random selection of individually selected" gear that all special operations forces tend to acquire. My comment about older gear was prompted by the 1st Special Operations Command (silveroxide's avatar being the shoulder patch of that fine unit) having been redesignated the U.S. Army Special Forces Command (Airborne) in 1990 [http://www.socom.mil/Docs/factbook-2009.pdf p. 12] and (so far as I know) receiving at that time a new shoulder patch. Rick's Marine Recon figure appears to be sporting current gear. 1st SOC's stuff, however randomly acquired, would have been pre-1990.

Having said all that, I've been away from the field and in my ivory tower at Carlisle for a couple of decades now and am no expert on all this by any means.

Hmm, having been 3rd Marine Recon back around '68-71, that don't look like the patch on my uniforms, must be a much more modern rendition. I also carried a Remington Model 700 BDL Custom Deluxe with a Leupold 6X18 Scope in my duties, my spotter carried the M-16.
