MicroMark used to have a battery powered light/LED unit that you could drop into a model lighthouse The light would would wax/wane in intensity to simulate a turning light.

Here is a MicroMark beacon lamp. The description says something about a plug-in 6v DC transformer.
ELECTRONIC BEACON FLASHER

Here are some other electronic stuff that looks like some could be adapted for paper models. The second page has some fiber optics.

Wowie! lots of cool goodies! Thanks, SCEtoAUX for those links.

Of course, you wanted to be super realistic about it you could learn the unique sequence and timing of the flashes of the particular light you were modeling and set up the controller to deliver that. (Might be a bit more complicated, though

Thomas: about a year and a half ago I purchased an Epinal model of the Bastille on French ebay... I don't know how old it is, but it must have been an important model as it runs to a number of pages and has a separate cover. Very different from the normal Epinals which are just a page of varying size. I'll try to scan a page and post it over the weekend, if you like.

Tom Greensfelder;

I was thinking that Epinal must have published the Bastille at some time or other. Thank you very much for the lead. :D

I, and several other people would be very interested in learning the approximate date of publication and any other info you can give that might lead to other copies.

If you do find anything, please post it here French Bastille
because the thread is called "French Bastille" and your posting will be easier to find in the archives under that title than under "Japanese Lighthouses!"

Thomas: I just posted some pix to the French Bastille thread... really the best place for it!

If it turns out anyone wants scans, I guess they should email me... they'd be too big to post to the forum, I think.

Interesting site. Some of the downloads that I checked have a picture but no instructions. Really a guessing game to try and assemble. Saved the site to my favorites just in case I decide to try one. Thanks for the link.
