For gallica site, of course not possibility to download a big scan but if you are patient you can use zoom and and capture 4 or six (or more ) of the picture then fusion the pics with "photoshop" or "photofiltre" , it taking time, there is also some software doing fusion automaticly but i prefere the old fashion the result is more precise.
We find a lot of things on Gallica but the quality of scan are most time so bad it's a pity ! if it's correct we can't download the HD version , merde alors! (sorry!)

You're right Patricia, I do the same way...

There is an interresting note about copyright on Gallica :

"If you buy a high resolution file and use it for a free exhibition, you just need to mention Gallica as the owner. If it is for a paying exhibition, you need to pay a fee."

Sont un peu mesquin chez Gallica, non ? Déjà je voudrais bien voir la tronche de leur "haute def" et si c'est pas mieux en qualité que ce que l'on obtient en zoomant ..... de plus les planches d'Epinal sont tombées dans le domaine public , je sais bien qu'ils scannent(souvent mal!), archivent ,etc.. mais bon , quand je scanne des docs qui sont sous copyright free je ne m'en sens pas propriètaire et c'est très bien si c'est utilisé, transformé ou restauré et même c'est le but.

Many nice things there. I think my uncle had a cigarette roller that was very similar to the one at the blog ... hmmm, wonder whatever happened to that ...
