Modelik La-5

I've been searching for a La-5 that is 1/33, and found the one from Modelik to be looking nice. The colors may not be as cool, with a camo green and brown upper, but the overall kit looks like it will build up into a nice model, and there is proof of that on the kit with a Beta build photo collection that looks fine. Will post some pics later..( at the same time bought the Halinsky Hurricane, and although this kit is known here, I must comment on the beauty of the coloration, I think it is prettier than the Spitfire in that sense, so really look forward to this one, too.)

This will certainly be a nice addition to the stable. Greg Perry built a very nice La-5 (I THINK is is a 5, but one of the radial-engined series Lavochkins, anyway) and now vanhalen's beautiful La-11 in North Korean markings.

And Lala had an ancestral LaGG under construction at one time (but in 1/50).

Looking forward to seeing this one take shape, Glen!

I did the Answer La7 which is a nice model, back in the day... not a -5 but pretty close.

Can't seem to find any photos of it in my archives though. SHould be over at Zealot.

Now that you mention it, Carl, didn't you use the La7 cowling as the basis for a tutorial on cowlings and joining rings and cylinders?

I do hope that photos of that model will eventually turn up. I'd love to see them.

Yes, you are correct, Don. Not a complicated model and looks very very nice when finished. I've tried to archive all my build photos but now have things spread between a couple usb drives, cds and hard drive. They should be somewhere...

I gave the model away as a gift a while back so no new piccies are possible.

I saw that build Carl and thought it was very nice- well here's the pics of the kit, but actually are pictures of my copies of the kit on my printer and spray coated, note the dark camo no weathering, but very precise parts and printing of high quality IMHO

That should keep you busy and out of trouble for a while, Glen.
