St Chamond (WWI tank) Fiddler's Green

Hi! Thought I'd never finish this. Laser print flaked at edges (despite Klear coating) and there seemed like lots of extra work strengthening etc but I leaned a lot with it: changing things like cutting off the printed track edges and made thicker tracks, extra layering (though didn't do all the wheels and suspension).

...and rivets! Made a mixture of PVA, chalk dust, paint and applied with a paintbrush (couldn't do it with a toothpick, or syringe like someone on here did - sorry can't find their post - but they did very nice rivets and it kept me going having showed how well it could be done!). The pointy brush worked well letting me position the rivet accurately, getting better with practise. Sprayed the whole thing satin when finished and washed it with watercolour to dirty it up and blend everything together.

Poilus are Airfix (I scaled the St Chamond to 1/72), base is the same one I used for the Whippet, and the backdrop is a watercolour I done this morning.

Anyway some pictures here - and some arty processed ones:

Looking forward to doing some nice clean builds (from inkjet prints) one day!

Great job on the model and even more so with the diorama setting...

Thanks for the kind comments. The portrait format picture with the tank's nose in the air is partially inspired by an old painting - as used on the Landships forum for their title banner.

All the best

Simon

Very nice! Its always great to see Fiddlers Green models pimped out like this. Very inspiring. The St Chamond is now on my short list of Must Builds.

Fine job on the St Chamond and a very realistic and dramatic diorama.
