You've done a beautiful job building a beautiful kit mi amigo.
I know Airdave designs very good kits, and you have made this into a fine model which is a pleasure to see. In Italian (Because the RedTails flew over Italy) "Molto Bene" and ( I think, but please forgive if I'm wrong) in Spanish "Muy Bueno". Kind and Respectful Regards Gerardo mi amigo, Uyraell.

Very nice build. What were the enhancements you made to the base kit?

Very nice job!
If you go to this you tube site, you can watch and hear the P-51B/C taxiing after it's flight. Turn up you speakers as loud as they go to an idea of how loud it was to me! I took this on Tuesday evening 9/17/13 B 24, B 17, P 51 Mustang 008 - YouTube |

Beautiful job! How did you make the canopy? I just tried to make a clear canopy myself, with mixed results: Horten IX flying wing glider

Canopy on the B/C model is not too bad since it uses flat components.
You can use the supplied canopy as a template for cutting some plastic or acetate. Only real issue is getting the plastic to stick to cardboard without using CA glue which can fog the plastic. I have had luck with double sided tapes. .... Thanks gerardo. This was a test build/ photo build. As I posted earlier, I updated my B/C Mustang template recently and decided to redo some older models (specifically the Tuskegee Airmen kits) The old Macon Belle and Variant Packs are discontinued. I have since put out a new Macon Belle and four more individual Red Tail Mustangs. (...and two more are waiting to be released) the second generation Mustang B/C has a full cockpit, new landing gear, and all new paintwork and textures. I've also modified a few parts, made minor tweaks and updated the instructions. I have also created a new version of the CAF Red Tail project Mustang, as you can see here from Gerardo's build. But I'm sorry, this model is not for sale. This will be added to my exclusive collection, for special giveaways or promotion. I sometimes add extra models to big CD orders, so this might be used for that. And...I plan on pairing it up with my new Miss America Air Racer for a special giveaway. I'll be making a post real soon all about that.

Thanks for the double sided tape tip! I tried CA and got the fog issue, so I gave up on some nice clear plastic that I originally wanted to use but could not find any glue that would stick it to paper. Double sided take would probably have worked quite well!

@ Uyraell - De nada, amigo! (You are welcome, my friend!) And yes... this model is molto bene.
@ Darwin - The enhancements are in the detailed art. Rivets and shades were enhanced. PS- I love your avatar! Danerfield was a master in comedy. @ Dlazarus6660 - Oh yeah! I love the sound of the Merlin in front of me (I hope I can do it to Houston AirShow next month). @ altbob - I don't use double sided tape, but I will try it. I use good old Elmer's glue to put the acetate in the canopy frame. And I use Tamiya tape to hold it while it dries. See the photo below. Dave has an exclusive offer for this model... for free. Check the details here: Dave's Exclusive Model Giveaway (Fundraiser) So go and get your Mustangs! |

Maybe it was the type of acetate I was using. What do you use for a source? I tried a few bit of found plastic, including a sports card protector, but Elmer's white glue would not hold it to the paper.
