U-Boat Type VIIC
Dear All,
And here is the next model. I found my love with submarines in the impressive 1:100 scale some time ago. In the meantime I have built the types II, VII and IX. Others (something bigger and from other navies) are on stock. This model is a Fly model and coming along with the type IX in one kit. Accordding to Fly this is a type VII/C44 what is completely rubbish There was a typeVII/C41 that was built until end of war. Several modifications have been done during war. The 8.8 gun was removed and the number of AA guns was increased. As planes were equipped with radar, U-boats were provided with a ventilation mast (snorkel) to go under the surface that can be seen on starboard near the turret. The fit of the model is very good but many parts have to be built from wire (mainly railings, guns etc.). I hope you will like the grey wolf. Best regards Gerd p.s. my first construction report in this forum will start very soon |

Hello Gerd, I am building the same one in 1/72 scale (Kooklik) using laser cut sections and the printed skin (which sometimes does not agree with the laser cut ) it is a very lengthy build and i put it on the backburner after finishing the bow section with ope tube and the conning tower, which will have stretched sprue for railing, it will be finished in mediterranean scheme ...I hope the section seams end up as neat as yours did...great model.

Do you play any of the "Silent Hunter" U-Boat Sims, Gerd?
