Aeg j.1 - 1/32
This AEG J.1 is a scratch built and dates from 1996. The basic data was taken from a Windsock magazine. It included some pictures, scale drawings (1/72 and 1/48) and the color profile that you can see in the magazine cover. As always, I made pencil drawings at 1/32 scale, to define all the dimensions and shape needed to design the real parts.
One of the detail pictures shows well the hand-made painting, which stood 20 years! Some pen markers fade with time but it was not the case here. The gouache paint and china ink lines seem virtually immune to time, which is great. |

Outstanding. What did you use for the rigging?

A superb model. I spent a lot of time pouring over each one of these images, including your pencil drawings.
This stubby two-seater has been a favorite of mine ever since I first saw it in the 1950s in Thetford and Riding's Aircraft of the 1914-1918 War, a volume that I keep by me to this day for the pleasure of leafing through it. Don |
