Photo gallery - Aichi D3A Val - Pearl Harbor 1941 (Military Model 3-4 2004)

I would like to show you my latest model - Aichi D3A Val. At the beginning I would like to point that it isn't my last post about this model. I must make a platform (part of aircraft carrier deck) for the model and then I'll show a few photos more. For now, I'll only show photos on a white background.

Building a model took me five months. I won't reinvent the wheel if I write that this model is very well designed and everything sticks together very fine. If I were to build it again I would certainly do the mechanism of the folding wings tips differently . I assumed that I could do them moving as it has been designed. Finally, they are mounted in the raised position, and they aren't moving. In my opinion this is the only weakness of this project. I'm sure, that it was worth spending a month on building the engine. I cursed a little when I was wrapping wire on the cylinders, but now when I look at the end result I'm very proud of it. I can say the same about the cockpit. The great advantage of this model is an amazing graphic design, vivid colours and delicate signs of exploatation (which also hides some mistakes I've made ). This model won't lose among other models on the shelf, It doesn't stand out. It has a beautiful silhouette , a little bit boring, but at the same time graceful and eye-catching. Before I started to build this model I was not as fascinated with this plane as I am now. Enjoy the photos!

Magnificent! Love the detail work on the engines. Love the weathered look. Who is the publisher?

Holy crow, that's one nice model! . . . one of my favorite IJN warplanes. old and slow by 1941, but i love fixed gear aircraft. HOW did you get wheel spats to look that good??

color scheme is similar to a Flymodel version i have. . .you've given me something to shoot for. outstanding model!
best,
cbg

Beautifully done! I have this kit on my to-do list but it's a little intimidating. You have done a wonderful job!
