Pharaoh

Pharaoh is the name of an elderly computer game that I've become addicted to. It's a city building game set in ancient Egypt. Despite it's age and 2D graphics the gameplay is complicated and sophisticated; and very difficult at the higher levels. So there's the inspiration to tackle some appropriate models. You can see them here:

You may need to scroll to the top of the page.

Feedback welcome.

One of my favourite games, and probably the best of Sierras City Builder series.

A real classic.

Saving the best 'til last. Actually, I forgot about it as I made this model about 15-16 years ago and it's been hiding in the cupboard under the stairs for most of that time. It's L'Instant Durable's take on Toutankhamon (French spelling) and features artwork by Jaques Martin, collaborator with Georges Remi on the Adventures of Tintin comic books.

Neither time nor the force of gravity have been kind to the floor of the upper layer, but I don't think this detracts too much from the overall effect. So:

As before, you may need to scroll up the page. Flickr has a mind of it's own.

Did you feel a bit like Howard Carter rediscovering this gem?

'And the colours are as vibrant as the day he was buried...'

Some particularly nice models there Phillip. Is there a bit of Egyptologist in you?

It's all beautiful work, Phillip! Slightly sagging upper story notwithstanding. I very much enjoyed viewing the images.

Hee, hee, hee.... Nice one Vermin King.

And thank you elliott; I suppose there must be a bit of an antiquarian in me as I also developed an interest in ancient Rome when playing Caesar III. Who says computer games are a waste of time?
