Showman's Traction Engine c.1930
The kit is one I've had knocking around for as long as I can remember. Mid-seventies, perhaps? It was part of a series marketed as Harris Edge Showcase Models and consisted of a dozen sheets of parts on sturdy card packaged in a cardboard box.
At first sight the written and diagramatic instructions seemed very comprehensive, but I was soon to realise that they bore little resemblance to reality. So more than a little guesswork had to be applied and the observant will be able to spot where I guessed wrongly. A surprise to me as I built their Flying Scotsman many moons ago and I don't remember having that problem. Howsomever:

Wow, that's a rare one, Philip. Google couldn't find anything on it. It turned up their Flying Scotsman and a Western Loco, but no mention of the Showman's Engine. I bet you didn't think to scan it before building it, did you?
I didn't pick up any obvious mistakes, but I'm no expert on such things ... just cranky old codger that actually remembers these things earning their living by supplying the electric to light a whole fair, as well as hauling a train of trailers from town to town.

Nice engine.Looks just simple enough to me to build but those wheels would take few tries to get right.Very interesting model.
How big is is?Any idea about the scale? |

Wondered what that look like build. Not bad. I bought one several years ago, has 1969 copywrite date. Was going to convert to 1/25th since it looks like around 1/16, but never got around to it.

Thank you all for stopping by. It's nice to hear from you.
No scale is quoted. The canopy measures 30.5 x 11.5 cm, so I think whulsey has got it about right. A new thread on Harris Edge models has just been started here: Harris Edge Showcase models; Flying Scotsman, traction engine and woodburning loco
