Hampton Court

Unlike the well-documented Micromodel of the entire palace, this model depicts the Great Gatehouse only. It's also quite large: the base measures 34 x 17 cm. It was designed by Ken and Rex Carr and issued as "Make Your Own Hampton Court" byThurman Publishing Ltd. There's no publication date, but it was a fair time ago.

I'm not usually a fan of die-cutting but this kit shaped up pretty well. Plus it was printed on a sand coloured paper, so no edge colouring! Not a lot of detail, but it's eye-catching nonetheless.

That model is impressive (the build, also). Can you imagine the space one would need to display the whole complex at that scale? Mind-boggling!!!

Nice build.

Doug - it would actually make a nice house! Many of the gatehouses in the UK are now converted to houses, though small gatehouses are awkward as they are in two sperate parts!

Thank you for your comments, folks.

missileer: Mathematics isn't my strong point, but a quick calculation (of a sort) tells me the whole palace to the same scale would cover an area larger than that of my house!

Philip,

Nicely done.

I have a feeling that I made this years ago - trouble is I some times can't remember things from a few days ago ;-)

Cheers
Mike
