Norman Manor Hall

A manor hall from the 11th-12th century. It consists of a main hall, a private solarium (why is it called that?) where the big cheeses lived, a storeroom under the solarium and a pantry extension. It was an interesting build.

The kit is in HO scale and was designed by Andrew zippy and offered on a now defunct website. Andrew designed more models than this and members of the forum can download most of them - sadly not this one - here:

Really like that. Shame it’s no longer available.

Nicely done Philip. Definitely impressive.
I hope it can be found in some archive.

Unfortunately, only the Cottage_6 seems to work for the downloads at his site.

And that was going through seven pages of files, so I don't believe I've missed anything with Wayback Machine

Not the Norman Manor

Based on years of watching Time Team, a solarium was a room with large windows so the bigwigs could get away from it all and sit in the sun without having to go outside.

Thank you all for your interest. Sorry if I've caused any anguish amongst the troops. Perhaps a nice, or begging, PM to Andrew might lead to a satisfactory result. One can but try. And now I know what a solarium was. Result!

Kevin - I used 160gsm paper on this one, and on just about everything else too. I was gifted lots of it, you see.
