The School For Scandal

The full published title of this one is - wait for it - "A Scene From Sheridan's "The School For Scandal" To Be Performed In Pollock's 18th Century Playhouse" by Peter Jackson, Pollock's Toy Theatres Ltd., London, 1971. Incuded were historical facts about the reality of theatre of the time and the script for act 1, scene 3 (the Library Scene).

It's made of fairly substantial card, because it was meant to be played with rather than act as a decoration. It didn't take long to build but it was fun while it lasted. Also, I decided not to colour it because I felt it looked just fine as it was. Oh, and my artistic skills are rubbish.

Interesting piece. Were there more in this series? Or was this a one-off?

That's pretty good theatre.I wouldn't mind building something like this and placing few Muppet Show characters. That show was a vaudeville played in similar (but run down) theatre to this.

You are right-it doesn't need color for effect. It looks really good.

I find the whole phenomenon of toy theaters enchanting, and am happy to see someone build one. You have produced a fine little model. From what I understand, they were quite popular in the pre-electronic era. Families would go to live theater, then the children would play re-enact the show with these toys. Such a charming aspect of the history of playthings. Seems like it deserves a revival.

Might have to make it 'Paper Streaming Service' instead of 'Paper Theatre'

Sometimes colors are merely a distraction.

Hmm, if the band in the orchestra pit were named "Fold Forward" what would their hit single be?

Pretty neat Philip.
Nice job with something a little unusual.
