Her Majesty's Tower of London

This is a Tower of London model unlike any other I've come across, which until now have all been three-dimensional buildings, either of the keep (the White Tower) or the whole complex. So, different then.

The kit was published as a "Make-A-Model Book" by Garrard & Lofthouse, Crawley, West Sussex in 1985 and is a sister model to the St Paul's Cathedral item that I made a post about some time ago. The base is about 35 x 9cm and the backdrop is 25cm high. It wasn't a particularly difficult build but there were some drawbacks, notably the lack of any meaningful instructions. The one simple diagram supplied shows how just two of the pieces are to be joined; one of them is drawn the wrong way round. But these things are sent to try us. I'm glad I got it finished though. It looks pretty neat in it's temporary home on top of my printer.

The kit reached me through the generosity of Tapcho, for which many thanks.

Beautiful work there. Funny though, I just finished Canon's Tower of London before seeing you thread. Most dioramas like these are just 2D images, but I really like how yours has a 3D look when finished. Can't wait to see your next work.

Cheers,
Gregory

Lovely! Good to see this one built. There's just enough 3D form in the walls to create a lovely impression of the site. And graphics are very pleasing to my eye and I've seen them closely. ;-) Well done Philip. (Footnote: instructions can be helpful but not a necessity.)

Thank you for your comments, folks. And remember, if you can't be good, be careful.

Very nice. I particularly like the hand drawn and water colored rendering of the background and building parts.
