What is Game Mechanics?

This area will be for the development of rules and game balance. Try to keep topics here specific and general chatter in the general section

"This area will be for the development of rules and game balance." I have absolutely no idea what this means. Honestly. Are you willing to explain?

There are sections here for discussing the design of games which employ paper miniatures for playing pieces and paper models for scenery, all the way from trees to houses to pirate ships and space ships; a number of models are in the modeling sections of this forum. This section will be about working out the mechanics and the flow of play of those games.

Although I make models for gaming I don't really game anymore. But this thread has me curious. I don't know much about the current rules and mechanics. So looking forward to where this is going!

Keep in mind that there hasn't been any traffic on this thread or related ones when the ecardmodels forum was merged with papermodelers a few years ago.

I use 1/72 scale papermodels to play the Battle Ground WWII rules.

There are many sets of rules which could be used with paper models instead of plastic or resin models.

Some free rules are available on the Junior General Website.

Lou Coatney offers rules and games. Mostly board games, but also rules for naval war games suitable for using paper models (which he also offers, but in silhouette and built up): Lou Coatney's Military and Naval History Games, Writings, and Models
