Truly marvellous aircraft in abundance now thanks to Gary - To keep our treasured memories in mind is one thing, but to be given a model to build and look at forever is the greatest gift of them all. The aircraft will NEVER be forgotten, and certainly never be disrespected.... some of the finest craft to bless our skies, and Gary brings 'em all back to life. Thank you Master

Great clip!! Form follows function. That Helli still does not look dated. Some Hellfire Missiles would probably mount very nicely to those wings.

I know the rotors overlapped, but did they inter-mesh like on the Chinook?

Seems to me that under heavy loads if they did not mesh the rotor flex could have cause some problems.

Yes, they did inter-mesh. I don't think any modern tandem helicopter ever made did not inter-mesh. I wouldn't go up in one if it didn't. They could also run on one engine if either failed (though I imagine under full load that would be a powered auto rotation). They really did not make a lot of these compared to the Wessex, but I imagine co-production with Sikorsky was a big reason. The bird had really nice lines.

"Belvederes were originally designed for use with the Royal Navy but were later adapted to carry 18 fully-equipped troops with a total load capacity of 6,000 lb (2,700 kg). The two rotors were synchronised to prevent blade collision through a shaft, allowing the aircraft to operate through only one engine in the event of an emergency."

One amazing Heli for sure. Non-Sync rotors would have been a disaster for sure, the flex tilt is also accounted for on all these type of rotary wing birds. She's certainly a nice looking piece of kit
