Hi Gary

The K-7 looks great! Ive always wanted to make a shadow box type of display with K-7, Enterprise, and Klingon ship. Do you happen to know the scale of K-7 Thank You Sincerely John

Gonna have to measure the model to work out the scale but heres an overlay with the Enterprise aproxamately to scale

Enterprise dish is 417 feet or 127 meters across

Some of us Next Generation fans are just a little lost. The K-7 was a space station sort of thing? I do remember the Tribbles, multiplying like bunnies, but not this whatsit...

K-7 (this project) was the space station that the Episode "The Trouble with Tribbles" was set on. Kirk and Co. end up at a space station after an emergency alert is broadcast, to find a hapless station manager run over by a bureaucratic nitwit and his assistant who demand they post a huge contingent of guards from the Enterprise to protect a load of wheat seed (well, Quadro-triticale-- a four-lobed variant of rye) destined for the contested colony world of Sherman's planet, since it's the only grain that will grow there, and the Federation must establish a colony successfully or lose the planet to the Klingons. A Klingon ship soon arrives demanding shore leave rights (guaranteed them by treaty) on the station. Kirk releases the crew for shore leave on the station after posting a token unit of guards around the wheat bins, and assigns more guards to watch the Klingons aboard the station. Scotty and Chekov end up in a rollicking fistfight with the Klingons in a bar after the Klingons comment that the Enterprise should be a garbage scow. In a side-story, a deep-space trader arrives at the station trying to sell Spican flame-gems in a saturated market (unsuccessfully) but ends up selling "tribbles", small furry critters from some planet or other he came across. Uhura ends up with one but nobody realizes that feeding a tribble induces them to reproduce spontaneously and soon the Enterprise and the station are overrun by tribbles, which even end up in the food processors and machinery. Kirk orders all tribbles removed from the ship, at just about the same time they all realize that the tribbles have probably by this time invaded the stations grain-storage compartments. Kirk beams over and opens the storage compartment hatch and is immediately buried under an avalanche of grain-engorged tribbles, most of whom are dead. McCoy studies the dead critters and comes to the conclusion that the grain is poisoned with a virus that ends up killing anyone who eats the grain. As Kirk, the station manager, and the Klingons, who are incensed about the 'attack' on their visiting personnel, are having a tete-a-tete in the station managers office, a pair of tribbles become quite panicked by the proximity of the Klingons, whereas they NEVER panic around humans and Vulcans. As the tribbles are being removed from the room at the Klingon's request, the bureacratic nitwit's assistant is entering the room and the tribble screech in panic again. Kirk soon figures out, with the tribble's help, that the assistant is a Klingon agent who poisoned the grain to destroy the Federation colony they're trying to establish. The day is saved and after a conversation with the hapless space trader, he agrees to pick up all the tribbles on the space station so he can get his ship back. Kirk and co. return to the Enterprise, now obviously tribble-free. Kirk starts asking where all the tribbles got to, and Spock, McCoy, and Scotty hem-haw back and forth skirting the question til Kirk finally demands an answer from Scotty, who replies that he beamed them all into the Klingon ship's engine room right before they went to warp, where "they'll be no tribble at all"...

Crew laughs, roll end credits...

There was an episode of ST:DS9 that actually incorporated Dax and the Commander Sisko into that TOS episode through some creative time-travel or something and the magic of CGI...

Later! OL JR

Thanks, Strawwalker. What a wonderful plot - love it! Guess it would take a pile of tribbles to show up at this scale.
