Plotting room suggestion
As I see the game rules are being made, the detailed rules for each unit might be written soon. At that stage I think it'll be helpful just to make an online test version of the game, that two of our members will play off against each other, maybe a third person keeps track of the movement and rolls dice perhaps, just to fine tune the mechanics and balancing.
The sequence might be: have a place to upload images, (png format eg) after each turn, the referee uploads the image of the battlefield, with some grid as form of coordinate system, and indicating all the directions and firing arcs etc. then the two players specify their actions to each of their units the referee applys those actions to the map, rolls dice if needed, and generates a new map and the battle continues. If some of the members have friends/relatives that are interested enough in this game, then this suggestion is void. |

A simple beta game
Later today or tomorrow the most, I'll upload four ships with bases and cards and rulers and rules for play testers to test it. It's going to be an easy cut and glue pdf so everyone can give it a try and report their opinions.

the thing is, it's the game designers who actually have an idea of what to test, and also we need a log of movements which needs to be visible to everyone on the forum, which is hard to achieve if you test in real life. Playing against a friend might just not do it. --We'll see how your suggestion goes for now.
PS: what's the current state of rules? so we have a barely playable one so far? |

No, no. Playing a test game with a friend is the best. He doesn't know nothing about the game. He plays it and gives feedback, good or bad without prejudice. The best test players are these. The others that are in the creative process have bias that allows then to make leaps of faith and that may bring loopholes in the game.

No because we have the best knowledge, we can exploit any mini-loopholes present in the game and see how they affect gameplay. We're talking about two opposite aspects of it, indeed for test play I'll get a friend to do it.

We need to test both ways... at least twice, once with someone to make sure its fun, then once to close loopholes, then again to make sure its still fun, then again to double check for loopholes
