Hee Hee...
I love unpacking new toys! (Love it more when they're my own, but I'll share in others' excitement as well.) Looking forward to this as well.

Curse the frailties of the human condition!
Snap. Overslept but I believe I have a pretty good grasp on the operation so tonite it's quick start guide and first cut to get depth and cut speed set. (Is it possible to be tired to near exhaustion yet excited? Yes. Yes it is.)

Getting Started
Okay so in 4 test cuts I determined my blade depth for 67lb stock is 2.The test patterns were boring so I found something more "me".
I'm calling them "See no hand cutting, Speak no hand cutting, Do no hand cutting". Tomorrow scanning starts.

Shall we now begin?
First things first:
Scanner 101: all scanners have a "sweet spot"- an area that scans cleaner and clearer than the rest of the scanner. In my case that area is approximately one and a quarter inches in from each side and the full-length top to bottom of the pad. Now knowing where to best position items it's on to... Project 1 - Giant Robo GR3 page 1 This is a full color print. The designer included drop shadows on the pieces. Outlines are black, clear and crisp.(1st photo) This exercise will determine two things: How much of the page will be recognized by the program. If the program differentiates between drop shadow and model piece. Scan was pretty good and enlightening. A few pieces weren't recognized but the small red arrows to aid in assembly were (2nd photo). I switched to circular outline mode to more clearly show all items recognized (3rd photo). Cutting was appx 90 seconds. (4th photo) - cut pieces on mat to the left. Pattern page to the right. Drop shadow on pieces was ignored. Parts were cut cleanly on the line. Internal cut lines were ignored and will need to be traditionally cut. While not all parts were cut I am satisfied with the amount of time saved and am wondering what to do with tiny red arrows.

I'm more along the lines of what to do with the cutout ones...perhaps manufacture a small sense of direction?
