On Amazon, the ET-2550 is $299 and the 4500 is $399, so there is a $100 difference. The prices are reflecting the same on Epson's website.

Then there is the ET-4550 which gives you the auto duplex capability for an additional $100 which is priced at $499.

Where were you seeing that the ET-2550 and ET-4500 are the same price?

When i was looking before the ET-2550 was listed at $399. Either I was imagining things, or it was temporarily higher.

Thumbs up I just bought the Epson ET2550 printer with the built in ink tanks

Well hello everyone and good to see some old faces around and some new. Been a few years since I set foot in here
Anyhoo I just got the Epson ET2550 and it is now down to $299.99 with free shipping. First thing I did after setting it up was to print out the Gee Bee and do a stare and compare. I am used to using HP Printers (HP Photosmart 7520) with their expensive ink refills. The only thing I found; using the same premium card stock; was the colours. Using the Epson the red was a bright cherry red instead of what I was used to seeing with HP ink and that was a more darker red with just a hint of maroon. I am sure the ladies have a name for that colour - but for me that's all your getting as far as a description .

It really does look like it is going to be a great printer.

Cheers and may your ink never run dry. lol

Jim

The question is, is the bright red color more accurate, or less?

Hi there
To be honest I can't really comment on that. I have only ever used HP printers and this is my first Non-HP printer. I do not have my screen calibrated either so really my only non-technical description is they are different. Probably a case of what you are used to.

Sorry can't be more specific.

As a short follow up - I was reading a lot of complaints about setting this printer up. I unboxed it, set it up to load the ink (20 minutes) got it connected to my wireless network and installed the drivers (windows 10) and printed my first test print in around 45 minutes start to finish. I had no issues or problems at all with it.

All the best my friend
Jim

We purchased an Epson ET2550 when our Canon printer died. Price was good, and refills are only $13.00. Colors look better, I think, and it includes a scanner. The 2550 computes ink levels based on usage, giving you an estimate of ink remaining, but visual check of levels is recommended. Pretty good printer, even if it won't print on larger sheets.
