'laziness and convenience'? doesn't stop you from using the internet and this forum instead of sending a letter to the editor of a modeling magazine. yes let's stay on the path of our choosing, you pining for the good old ways, me exploring the new possibilities.
and, good luck to you too! |

I was about to give similar reasons for why I would buy one. I find model building very relaxing but lots of cutting, particularly small parts can result in headaches and hand cramps.

I printed off a model the other night and after looking at it, I filed it away. It is either going to have to wait until I'm inspired to attack all those small fiddly parts or I get a cutter.
Cutters are very useful. I don't have one, but my collection of printed-off models that would be better off using a cutter is growing. I don't use them, but I am pretty sure that I will be getting one in the future

I'm sort of an old artsy-craftsy type so I like the cutting, etc. since its the process that I enjoy. Really very little concern of every finishing something. The other factors for me is space and cost. Don't have much space and now that I'm retired have to watch the funds closer. That's even with the plastic stuff, I have a couple of air brushes and haven't even taken one out of the box since I don't have anywhere to really set up a space for painting. Plus living in a condo with all the rules, I fire up a compressor will probably being receiving a letter and fine from the HOA shortly.

What laser cutter did you get? Have you used it? How is the performance? I am looking at a laser cutter, as several of my health conditions are making it harder to cut parts like I want.

I think I understand. I have no problem with little bits and pieces but scratchbuilding ship railings in 1/200 scale has me frustrated. Any suggestions?
