Some price information would be useful..I'm always a bit shy of these start ups that aren't upfront about such things...

And, making your own vacuum forming box, powered by your vacuum cleaner is dead simple.

That's why I wanted more info. Micro Mark has one available that looks like its heavier duty then this one.

From the kickstarter page, a unit with the "maker" package was for a pledge of $349.

Looks like there would be none available until May 2017

That's a lot of money considering you still have to provide the vacuum.

years ago I posted the simple vacuform I use on canopies. it consisted of ... a wooden box! dimensions very variable but using scrap wood and 1/8 inch Masonite with 1/8 inch holes in the top and a side hole large enough to accept the acc hose from a cheap shop vac. the toughest part was a plastic holder. I used 2 standard cheap clipboards, cut out a working opening bigger than the largest canopy I thought of building and used the big bulldog clips on the clipboard to sandwich the plastic. the heating source was 2 1x3 foot long pieces of wood straddling a stove. total cost minus the shop vac which every man should already have was 0 dollars. use the scrap odds and ends you have around the garage, the box does not have to stand up to the vacuum of space. you can seal any cracks with any type of caulk if you feel you must. as long as there is a decent suction thru the top piece of Masonite, ie it holds a 1mm piece of card fast to it when turned on it will work. the tricky part is heating the plastic to a proper softness for forming. I'll try to put together some noted and pics later...
