I'm liking my Epson ET-2760, and it WILL feed heavy stock, which is great. Now i need to make space for my Silhouette SD and relearn silhouette studio...

I agree Workforce printers are not good for cardmodeling (my WF-3640 had serious issues with banding and sucked ink like a fiend).

I guess they upgraded from banding and sucking ink like a fiend to banding, sucking ink and shredding/mangling pages half the time with the WF-3720.

But yet I hear of some folks that love the heck out of theirs.

No one has mentioned laser. We have a Brother color that I like a lot. I like a glossy finish, and brochure paper is super.

Toner seems to be lasting 6 months. The drums about a year.

Does the colour adhere well when bending/folding something printed from a laser printer? I avoided laser printers in the past because I heard people say that the colour flakes off easily.

I had problems with peeling toner occasionally, but only on cardstock. It turns out that there is a setting for cardstock that seems to alleviate the peeling toner. I found the setting recently, to which my wife said 'yeah, you didn't know that?'

There must be others 'out there in papermodelers land' with experience. Please share.

I had a Epson WF-7710 that was really good even with thick cardstock. Unfortunately it just died on me and I will probably replace it with an Eco Tank model or get the same model but a ciss setup as the standard 252XL cartridge refills run about $80.

Epson ET-4750 here. I've had it for five years. Ink lasts a long time (each tank refill lasta 2-4 months) and it has good print quality, although I now have to clean the ink jets more frequently than I used to.

HP CP1515n. Probably not the best choice, but I acquired it second hand for a good price and the toner cartridges are not too costly either. It does the job and provided the correct paper thickness is set before printer the toner is robust enough to survive normal modelmaking handling. Although cracking is a disadvantage, the upside of laser printing is the elimination of speckling when looking up close and the ability to use pens and paints over it to get weathering effects.

It's a crapshoot

I wonder if differences are due to inconsistent quality control, or if printers and parts are made by several subcontractors or varying reliability?
There was a saying about Detroit made cars, don't buy one made on a Monday, maybe that also applies to printers.

I have an Epson 2250 Tank model. It is about 5 yrs old, and going strong. The best part (not only nice printing) is saving the cost of cartridges. I no longer dread printing several full page color photos! JimB
