Being an almost total dummy digitalwise, I should nevertheless like to try to communicate in someway or another with you papercutting brethren. Please enlighten me as to proper terms, usage, jargon or terminology. This being the first time I joined any sort of forum. Greetings all,
Serge Stone

Welcome!
Rule #1 - pictures speak louder than words!
Rule #2 - ask questions - people around here are typically glad to help, so long as it's not trying to pirate copies of models
Rule #3 - read. You can learn tons by reading various build threads.
Rule #4 - did I mention we like to see pictures?

Seriously don't be shy about posting pictures. Unless you ask for it, criticism is very rare around here and everybody is at their own level of modeling skills

Welcome Serge. Read the posts that interest you, this will set the tone. You will quickly see that this is a friendly community with people sharing a common interest. As Dan stated it is rare to see anything negative, we are all at different levels of skill and interest. Some kidding occurs, but it is meant in a humourous way. Have fun, be courteous, if you are not sure ask.

~ Cheers, Douglas

Rather new at this myself, so welcome. You can learn a lot here. Although I don't know much about ships, I recommend Golden Bear's threads on his wonderous French ships. They are great tutorials. Our current POTW poster boy, Johnny, has some great threads also. I personally am primarily a car modeler, but as I keep telling some on my more tunnel vision car model friends: there's something to be learned from all types of models.

Thanks for the welcome Gents, I may have mentioned that I will be moving house within the next few weeks, so all my gear is going into storage, hopefully to be retrieved somewhere in late May or early June. Does anyone know what happened to a site named URL Removed due to piracy, ? It had an enormous number of WW II aircraft as free downloads. Being half dutch, this would of course have great appeal. It seems to be no longer accessable via Safari. I have put all my plastic kits (364 unmade) on the market, as our new abode doesn't have room enough, so paper it is from now on. How's that for a conversion! Signing off for now, cheers
Serge

Unfortunately it is a known pirate site, and I am glad to see it gone, it had most of Fiddlers Green's offerings.

By the way, how can one be Half Dutch? either you are totally or you are not
I lived in the Netherlands for 9 years, and my parents are Dutch

I put together a few tutorials, decent I think, a while back when we mostly resided at a different site. I think that they got ported over here. They might be worth a look. If not, certainly don't hesitate to ask any question no matter how simple it might seem. A question about how to cut paper/card can get us going for days. ...oh, ignore everybody else's advice and follow mine. For example, I seem to be the only person to use Duco Cement and this clearly makes me special.

Troll jokes are also very welcome.

Did anybody say that we like to see pictures? Just a thought.

Welcome to our home.

Carl

Nice work. The Stipa is a strange, yet nice aircraft design...one of my favorites.
