Removing tags?

How do I remove tags?

Removing tags?-tags01.jpg

I want to remove some from my latest thread ("air" and "force") but :

a) "air" doesn't show up in the edit tags area

Removing tags?-tags02.jpg

b) if I uncheck "force" and click "save changes", I get the following message :

Some tags couldn't be added for the following reason(s):
* The number of tags you tried to add to this thread exceeded the maximum number of tags by 1.
Changes that did not cause errors have been applied.

This "tag" thing is utterly frustrating and annoying.

I just started a new thread...this is where the tag issue arises...

when trying to post/publish the thread I get told "you have exceeded the number of allowable tags by 9".

First...I didn't add any tags, so why am I fighting with this?
I understand its automatic, but I didn't ask for it and it doesn't work.

I didn't argue...I removed half the tags.
And then it told me I had "exceeded the number of allowable tags by 9".

LOL so I did it again.
Same thing.

So, then I removed all the tags. None. All gone.
Post.
"you have exceeded the number of allowable tags by 10"!!!!

And of course, everytime you refresh, preview, re-edit...it replaces all the tags
with a set of new ones...and always too many to allow you to publish.

Can you please do something with this?

Yes, very annoying.
If you look at the automatic tags you will see almost every word in your post listed. If you delete those and add a few key words on your own as tags some random words in your post still show up as tags and in some cases some of the tags you added are not in the list. And, as Dave mentioned, each time you preview or edit the initial post in a thread to make sure it reads as you want it too those annoying automatic tags are once again generated and if you do not delete them you get that nag message. The only entity that is exceeding the allowable number of tags is the messageboard software.

Rick has been checking into this, dunno where the issue stands.

EDIT - Jason is actively working this. You've all been more than patient, please bear with us as the problem is worked through.

The auto-tags seem to be gone on new threads now. Nice!
