delete post

Hi
After noticing that I had somehow managed to post the same message twice I tried in vain to remove one of them. I could nor figure out how to delete my own message.
I searched for "delete post" and "remove post" without success. In the FAQ it says to go to the post and hit the edit button and then delete. I could not find the delete option. Even deleting the existing text and resubmitting an empty message does not work because the editor demands at least 10 characters (and a string of spaces doesn't count). What am I missing?
Thanks.

Took care of it for you Hornswoggler.

If you need another post deleted in the future and can't find the delete button, let one of the moderators or admins know in a PM with a link to the post and we'll take care of it for you.

Thanks 3Turner.

So I take it, there is no way that the author of a post can delete it himself.
I guess this is meant to preserve threads from hackers or from their own authors having a bad mood swing?

Pretty much, yes. You do have an hour after you make a post to make any changes including, I believe, deleting your post. Correct me if I'm wrong on this other mods and admins.

As Elliott mentions, there is a 1 hour window to edit. I thought there was a delete button, but I could be mistaken. I don't know how different the general member user interface is from the moderator interface. There have been posts from members who were having bad mood swings to bait other members.

I just checked a post I made a few minutes ago. There is an Edit button but no Delete button when reading the post in the thread. Clicking the Edit button to get to the edit window also does not show a Delete button so perhaps the delete function is a feature for mods &ca. only.

OK, that's good to know. So if someone wishes to have a post of theirs deleted they'll need to contact a moderator or an admin. Thanks for checking on that Doug. Much appreciated.

Ummm? I think someone's missing the point here .... The delete button y'all looking for isn't on your screen ... it's on your keyboard.
