There are open source programs that allow you to pull pictures out of .PDF files, after which you can do what you want with them, for example, this site has many applications that are free and work with .PDF's.

PDF Converter, FREE PDF Converter with SomePDF.com

Send a message via Yahoo to dansls1
If you can fit the whole image on your desktop you can do a printscreen and paste the image into paint on a simplistic level.

lol good points
but not really answering his question as asked...?

I don't use Paint.net myself, but according to another Forum:
"To answer the original question, no, there is no way to import a PDF. You can print-screen, or save it as a different image file."

There was also a suggestion to use a Bitmap convertor and create a Bmp which can be imported into Paint.net
If you "Print Screen" you can create an image that will paste into a Paint.net document.
And then you can save it as another type of file.

Yes a print screen option will work, but the resolution will be very low, 72dpi. Better to go with a pdf converter.

I just downloaded the program and tried it out for a few minutes. I believe Dave is 100% right about not being able to directly open up a pdf file. I know it's free and it looks to be not too bad but maybe Gimp or something else in the free realm might be better suited

Inkscape and Gimp (both open source) can open and convert pdfs.

This is how I transfer PDF files into paint.net. Not a direct method, but it keeps the resolution nicely:

You just stretch the box around the image/data you want to transfer and it saves an exact copy.

Works for me...
