How To: post pictures to a thread

Can you tell me how to post a large pic as on page 2 of this thread?
I normally get an icon instead.

Loui is using the image tags to link to an image located somewhere else, be it in the gallery, or in a folder you have with your ISP

There are two methods to use the image tags:

1. Copy the url of the image you want to link to your post, and click on the second icon from the right on the tool bar for the quick reply, if you hold your cursor over the icon, it will say Insert Image. In the small pop up window that appears, paste the image url, and click ok. A line of code will be added to your post
[img ] image url [/img ]
You can then keep writing what you want to.

2. Copy the image url and in the post you are writing just use [ img ] paste your image url [ /img ] and keep on writing, and when you post your comment, the pictures will show in line where you placed them in the text

I have purposely added spaces to the image tags, if I didn't, the forum software would convert them and try to show a picture

OK found the way to do it, thanks. One more question, will the large picture be over-eating the storage space in your server/data storage hardware?

If it is uploaded to the gallery, yes: it uses space.
If the image is linked from an external server then it doesn't.

Any image uploaded to the gallery, or using the Attachment method described in my first post in this thread will add to the overall size of the database, which at the last time I talked with Jason, and we had troubles with the forum stood at over 60 Gigabytes of data.

While it doesn't sound like a lot, it is still a lot of information to move around, either locally on the server, or downloading it to an external backup.

Pictures do make the forum, but I think the best approach is to use the thumbnails and the big pics.

One other thing (I find anyway) is that sometimes threads with the full size pics take ages to load - which often means I just move on eventually and don't read the thread. Which seems a waste after someone's efforts in posting it...

before posting pics to the thread I resize them to 1024 pixels wide, sometimes 800. No, way, I'll post a full-resolution picture.
