Me think a wee bit of both.. FG got it just about bang on - but the build is exceptional here Dave

Thanks for the compliments guys! Wasn't expecting such rave reviews on this one. I'm honored by the POTW nomination. Surprised that it comes on one of my quick couple-evening FG builds rather than my two recent uber-detail models (P-51D and Albatros D.III), but honored all the same.

Dave, it's just your classic single-page FG model, drawn in '92, re-drawn in '99, by hand. The only mods were to print the landing and wing struts twice so they could be glued back-to-back rather than single sided, the rigging, and spray-sealing the model in matte. I think the spray-seal really helps bring out the colors. But the kit itself is quite simple: (from FG):

Anyway, I was looking over the pics again and realized that something very important was missing from them. So, here they are again, in proper form:

Great photos. I really like FG models and have long had a soft spot for this particular aircraft. When I was in junior high school, the library helped me buy my first used book: an autographed copy of Eddy Rickenbacker's Fighting the Flying Circus. I later built various models of the SPAD, including the Monogram SpeeDee built (which made a few lame flights the length of our short back yard until succumbing to archy over Chateau-Thierry). Your excellent model brought back a lot of memories.
