Uyraell The name is "Chwat", unfortunately, was overwhelmed by the bomb explosion there survived the war but did not survive the subsequent communist rule and has been scrapped:( They didn't like AK in brief.
Interesting was one of two Panthers wich was captured, called "Magda" (before "Pudel"). The crew of this tank in the storming of the camp ( called Gęsiówka ) has saved 300 Jewish prisoners - some of them created a battalion of Jewish. Were still two SdKfz 251: "Szary Wilk" (Grey Wolf) and "Starówka" (Old City), One FAI and one Kubelwagen. Regards! |

Many Thanks JJb89.
The last I had read of Chwat was that someone had hoped to restore it. Or at least preserve it, but that article was written around 1975 (and was itself referring to the late 1950's and early 1960's), and I don't recall reading much more that was written apart from a small amount of info written in 1990 or so. It is a shame Chwat was cut up as scrap: vehicles of that type were reasonably rare. I'm glad the other vehicles you mentioned survived. I belong to a Ww2 history forum, and one of the members there has a Grandfather who as a teenager served in the AK, and who has passed to us in that forum some of the events his Grandfather was part of. I always find it intensely interesting to learn from those who were there at the time, or are close to the people who were there. Genial and Respectful Regards JJb89, Uyraell. |

Last I recall reading of replicas was that they were hoping to build some, and were looking for chassis and parts. That was a couple of years ago though. I'm glad they have succeeded.
Translators are a thing I use only rarely. I like to try to read in the language an item is written in. I can sort of get most of it in German or Czech or Russian, but I struggle a bit more with Polish, even though as I child I heard Polish and or Yiddisch spoken reasonably frequently. I very much enjoy our discussions here JJb89. Genial and Respectful Regards, Uyraell. |

Thanks for those pics, Jjb89!
You know, the more I look at Kubus, the more I realise how much those people building and using the vehicle achieved, with such minimal resources. I fully understand the pride they had in completing Kubus. The image of Starowka is one I had not before seen, and is a remarkably clear picture, of which I'm glad. Yes, it may be a "modern replica" but as far as I can tell it is extremely close to an original vehicle of that type and era. Thank you my friend. Genial and Kindly Respectful Regards, Uyraell.
