Fokker F.II KLM 1/72 Scale

Very good looking model, jjb89!

Very fine color scheme and interior. Do you make it in a larger size than 1:72?

Here is a Grulich-Fokker F.II in LUFT HANSA livery, that I made from an old (FREE) RAPI-model, which was hosted by Kartonmodell-Forum in Germany:

All the best,
Bengt

It's a beautiful model and it's great news that it will be available.

We can't have too many Golden Age early airliners and this is a classic.

I once built a stick and tissue peanut scale simplified version and will be glad to have this excellent model.

Weeeeeell, since I have a strong interest in the beginnings of German commercial aviation, I shall help you there, shan't I?

There was, e.g., the "Friedrichshafen" of the "Danziger Aero Lloyd":
http://www.dutch-aviation.nl/picture...0F2%20Dz3l.jpg
(After WW I the city of Danzig was disputed between Germany and Poland. It was decided to give the city to neither but run it by the League of Nations. This, of course, meant also a special registration - Dz - for Danzig planes). The profile is faulty in so far as the wing was not grey but wooden as on your model (I have to check the underside against a photograph , it might have been black). The Friedrichshafen, however, requires a different engine hood, because she was equipped with the BMW engine F.IIs initially were built with.

The same applies for the prototype, too: http://www.dutch-aviation.nl/picture...totype%202.jpg
This plane carried the German registration D-57 (I think) before the famous escape to the netherlands, and eventually bacame the KLM H-NABC. Another curious feature of the prototype was that it had four wheels in total, two side by side at each end of the axel (Fokker had only built fighter planes before the F.II. Naturally there were no suitable wheels for bigger planes in stock. There is a picture that shows the plane during construction: http://www.dutch-aviation.nl/picture...%20aanbouw.jpg You can clearly see, that preprinted lozenge camo fabric was used on it).

The Fokker-Grulich F.II were built to a design modified by the Aero Lloyd chief technician Hans Grulich. They were built in (for the time) great numbers and looked all pretty much like Bengt's model. One particular plane might be of special interest: It was used for early test on in-flight-refuelling. The Fokker-Grulichs would also require a different engine hood and furthermore a new windscreen.

The Swiss Balair also had F-G.IIs: Attachment browser: aisbalairch151.jpg by gupi - RC Groups

I can provide you with more pictures and information, if you like?!
Michi
