I am not too proud to say when I'm wrong. I am wrong. I really do like your subject matter. I, being an old fart am not too savvy on the internet ways and it did not occur to me that this kind of networking among fellow members is a very good thing. It has a built in safety and assurance quality by being recommended by people who you have dealt with and trusted. Please forgive me, sincerely. Zathros.

I hope to eventually add more L-birds to the lineup - but it'll have to go a bit slower for now. I really hoped to inspire some more creativity than I got out of the contest. Judging from how my first two design contests have gone, I'll probably do just as well to offer to pay some designer to build what I want. Any suggestions? Ryan

Ryan, I could open the file in SketchUp. I'll be happy to send it by email if you require it - it's 2MB. I just sort of roughed it in at no particular scale. I could try to do better, if you wish. Also the quality isn't terrific (very thick lines).
I could have a go at it in Illustrator to make the lines thinner, if that would help. Please advice. Leif PS. What is Waybe? And if you have a go at it, could you possibly give a few hints in a thread on how you do it in SketchUp? This interests me VERY much. - L. Last edited by Leif Ohlsson; 06-07-2008 at 05:21 PM. |

More later, but I'm trying to work with the 3d of the model that Roman sent me... not with the kit file.

I started on mine this morning - printed the whole thing on 32lb glossy, cut out the control surfaces, and laminated the stabs (less elevators and rudder) using 65lb index to give them rigidity and the appearance of a little thickness.
This would be an interesting subject for a visible cabin option with all the struts, great visibility, etc. A couple of reference photos that I've been looking at include: 3k x 2k pixel photo: http://www.brecklandstrut.co.uk/gall...pix/62-L-5.jpg 3-view: http://richard.ferriere.free.fr/3vues/stinson_l5_3v.jpg various details: http://www.ewarbirds.org/08/l5/index.html So far, this kit is shaping up to be a very satisfying build - I can only hope now that I manage to see this one through to completion :-) Good luck with your build Don, you're probably a lot further along than I am - run into any snags yet?
