Maj. Charles, Zakopious, my friends,
Both of you are correct: I've always hated Chihuahuas and ever shall.

"Mexican Barking Rat" is a very good descriptor of a Chihuahua.

Every one of the breed I have ever had the misfortune to encounter was bad-tempered, obnoxious, ill-mannered and badly behaved.

Nor can I fathom why nor how anyone would either create or purchase a model of a Chihuahua.
I am of similar opinion regarding Fox Terriers, though for a very different reason: If there is decayed matter of any kind near a Fox Terrier that dog will go out of it's way to go roll in it and play in it, then expect (and demand, insist upon) to be petted, cuddled etc. Every Fox Terrier I have encountered has had that same odious trait. Which makes Fox Terriers next on the list of Loathed Canines.

I far prefer a larger dog. Yes, a larger dog does require a bit more maintenance and care, yes, the food bill is bigger. But the larger breeds I have met usually have better natures, and are certainly more companionable, and I've known quite a few dogs in that size range.

Kind and Respectful Regards my friends, Uyraell.

Alas, in my divorce I got my son and my wife got the dog ... I wish I could have gotten both ... LOL. I lean more to large dogs. George was a 125 lb Malamut/Shepard. My son's dog Lincoln is a Pit. My folks have a 45 lb Jack Lab that is highly entertaining. I have cats, but truly, a dog is a man's best friend.

I got the Rottweiler at our local dog pound.

$14 for the license and $15 for the adoption.

For $29, I got a dog that appears to be a purebred Rottweiler.

Many dog pounds have a website which shows the available dogs.

Incidentally, Rottweilers are a low maintenance breed.
The ears need to be cleaned perhaps twice a week and he should be brushed perhaps twice a month.
However, He has not had a bath for over a year but does not smell.
I believe that if a dog has a good dog food, that he will not have doggy odor.
Blue Buffalo is the food of choice for my Rottweiler.

Google is your friend.
Search for your city or county and dogs.
The dog pound website should show up.

Of all canine breeds, it is the one I loathe most.
Don't forget miniature poodles. Not only are they small, noisy, and bad-tempered, but they look as though they belong to some weird religious cult. Disgusting!

I don't dislike dogs, as a rule. It all depends on the recipe.

Sakrison, I believe I can one-up your poodles. My son's gf had a poodle. Son has the pitbull. The one surviving Pitty-poo was taken to the pound at 3 months. I can only hope that it was humanely disposed of. An animal that could only grow up to be trouble.
