Yeah, and I had to reduce that pic just a little bit before posting. :D
The original was a 397.9 Mb bmp at 600 dpi that, mercifully, saved on disc to 5.46Mb as a jpg. The 200% enlargement makes it 1/25 scale and it fits on an A2 sized sheet. Here's some full sized segments to show the quality. |

Yeah!.... I just don't see the point of them issuing a free model, and including spoilers in it that make it difficult if not impossible to use.
If you're going to issue a free model to show off what you can do, then issue the damned thing. If you don't want to issue a free model then don't.... Seems to make more sense than to issue a free model and damage your own reputation when people find they can't actually use it. That translated thread is actually saying they did it that way to prevent anybody converting them to a different format, not to stop them being printed. Which to be blunt is a complete waste of time.... theirs and ours. Because they are still convertable and fixable but in the state they're in now, not printable. Best Regards, Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

This very strange protection - Adobe Acrobat (the full version) allows very fine grained control over what is allowed on a .pdf. For example a .pdf can be locked down so it can be viewed and printed but stops page exports, etc.
I'd guess the so-called "protection" is achieved by inserting script into the .pdf text - although doable it seems to cause all sorts of other problems. Regards, Charlie |

Ok - so I'm confused. If you want to just open and print these models, is there an issue - or is it only if you are looking to rescale or do something else with the file?

Chien,
you did post how to overcome the protection but one sentence afterwards you try to remind the people the legality issue. Perhaps you try to think the next time BEFORE posting how to overcome protections the legality issue?!? If you do not understand this: Quote:

Neither do the majority of members support the violation of copyright!! HOWEVER!! You confuse the violation of copyright and fair personal use!!. Perfectly legally, you can do whatever you wish with ANYTHING that you downloaded as long as you downloaded it legally!!! Provided that it is for your own personal use and you do not re-distribute it. It matters not a single jot what the publisher has said in his document. Provided you only do it for yourself and do NOT sell it or give it, to anyone else, it is perfectly legal to modify the file in any way you see fit AND doing that is NOT!! a breach of copyright. "Fair Use" is permitted under ALL Copyright Legislation. Attacking Chien like you did, is not permitted here! Chien is perfectly entitled to describe which software he used personally to convert the files. He has NOT commited any breach of copyright in doing so. Quote:

To claim copyright is valid.
To extend that claim to areas beyond copyright is not. To point out how clever one is at tying knots invites challenge and proof that one is not. Such proof has been provided and no one here has done or said anything they are not entitled to. |

To rutzes,
Sorry for making you so uncomfortable. I didn't mean to teach people how to unlock the legal protection. But as Julian said, someone had trouble on his printer, and I just want to provide a possible solution, just that, nothing else. I thought you are right, maybe the one can finally find out a solution or just don't download it. I'll delete the posts, and I really don't want to see a thread break the peace here. I did love this forum. I have to say SORRY to GreMir (sorry for make things go to this way), the authors, and those people hurted. Regards,
