Well, the next Dash 8 is out of the paint shop. It's not orange, but has lots of orange highlights. Tail bumber and VHF antenna now added to the model and the top of the tail has been tweeked a bit.

Here's a slight variation on the America West Express paint scheme. It's a transitional paint scheme. America West basic paint, but without any logos or identifying markings. I think this was done so the regional airline could fly the airframe on different major airline routes (US Airways, United, etc). I probably won't send this over to Murph for publication, since it's just a plain-Jane scheme. Just built for my own amusement.
On a side note, I packed up a bunch of models and shipped them as checked bags during my travels this past week. TSA opened and "inspected" the package both ways. I guess paper doesn't show up in X-ray scans, and an "empty box" is suspicious. The cleaver government employees were able to repack my models in half the space that I had used when I packed them. The box in the photo was packed to the top of the box. Just about every model was damaged in some way. Luckily I had packed each model in it's own bag, so at least all the parts were there. Luckily paper is repairable unless burned so I was able to fix the fleet. |

I really like those!!!
Most of my models get damaged during shipping, not security. When I moved back to Korea, I lost 90% of my models. Plastic, paper, diecast....you name it.

I had to take a couple of weeks off from modeling due to sickness, but here's another Dash 8 version. I call it "Purple". I think the wings were a little too far aft on the earlier models, so for this one I moved the wings forward 2mm on the wing sponson. Everything else is in their original positions. By moving the wings forward, the windows line up much better. The props are now abeam the fuselage prop guard. The rear cargo hatch is now clear of the end of the engine pods. And the last two windows are now behind the wing trailing edge. Overall I think it looks better.

I remade the America West model, shrunk it by 76% to give me a 1/72 scale model. I also moved the wing forward to match my other models.
