Movie vehicles etc
for those that have a favorite movie that starred whoever but are more excited about a vehicle from that movie, gpm just released a h51 helicopter. this was from an old 50's sci fi movie called "a land unknown". it was one of my favorite helicopters ever, followed by little Nellie from "you only live twice". lets try and keep the thread open with a favorite movie vehicle star, it can be land, sea air or whatever....

Rick and that too. I saw this on gpm.pl site. I cruise the vendor sites several times a day while waiting for results etc. I actually thought of you and your fondness for rotary wing craft when I saw this, then thought this would be a kinda nostalgic thread for movies that the vehicles were the better stars.

Here is the real helicopter
Pictures of the Sikorsky S-51 helicopter in civilian colors when I was at the New England air museum in Connecticut back in Dec 2016.
Nice looking helicopter but You really need a vacuformed transparency ( canopy ) or else it will look like crap. It does not look like one is being offered, so you have to make one yourself. Isaac

When I saw the thumbnail image, the first thing I thought of was "The Bridges of Tokyo-ri" too. I've got plans to do "Piccadilly Lily" from "Twelve O'clock High".

And I am aware of this kit, but until I am back as an active member of the workforce, any and all published kits will have to wait.

Hi All,
Well, nearly a whole page has passed, and no one else has stepped up to be the iguana in the punch bowl, so I'll do it. Little Nellie was a based on the Wallis WA-116 Agile Series Autogyro. And while I've always liked it too, it is not a helicopter. Developed by Ken Wallis, who could be called "Mister Autogyro" of the last half of the 20th century, Little Nellie was one of a number of his flying creations. He was quite a guy, and is worth looking into. Score and fold, Thumb Dog |
