Those are unmanned diesel 'B' units (additional power.) Santa Fe ran F7A-B and F7A-B-A sets at the head of both passenger and freight trains. Configuration was determined by size of train and terrain on the route.

Okay....so I'm not into rail stuffs....I should change that indication. Sorry all. Was going by sight and thought they were passenger cars. Guess I should have noticed the exhaust on the roof of the B unit as a sign.
