Freeboard

This is the freeboard, hull and main deck, the edges are trimmed with a strip, a forward mark denotes the front. most of this hull is out of view when assembled.

That deck plank texture is working well.

Forest, the second deck really has a lot of planking exposed, really curious to see what this thing looks like in color... the working prototype I assembled was basically B/W line drawings, the windows weren't even shaded.

I thought that decking printed out a little too bright, I was thinking of toning it down a bit perhaps to make it look a little more aged.

why?: the reason I always build a black and white prototype first is because I don't want to invest the time and ink into coloration if the parts don't fit., building it also gives me insight into how best to layout the assembly illustrations, iron out any bugs, so, I always build at least two of these, one in B/W and one in color.

(old habits are hard to break)

Thank you for doing that. I hate getting into a model that obviously the designer never built

First deck

Okay, got the first deck done, this is where it gets a little, "delicate" doing the railing, there are two, "ceilings" fore and aft that provide the structure for the upper railing but that has to wait until the life boats are in place.

One would think that the parts are simply white but they are actually gradient fills of, "off-white". (more apparent on the page)

I'm not too concerned with the top edge at this stage because the second deck will straighten it all out.

Small boats

Got the small boats done, since these sit way back in the shadows, I didn't spend a lot of time on them, once they are in place I added the two ceilings that hold the shape of the upper railings, next is the second deck, that's where the real fun begins..

It's all adding up!
Tangent time - looking forward to creative writers group meeting Saturday, and seeing the polygonal boat here, what would the story be for a book, movie, boating magazine column, titled "The Polygonal Punt"?
