Who's your favorite designer!
Everybody has a favorite designer that they fell in love with and stick with. Others are sort of in limbo in that they try different designers based on their current experience level and will soon move on to the next as soon as enough experience is gained.
For me it started with FG models and I actually ended up purchasing their entire line of aviation models. After having built countless FG models I felt like I've outgrown them and soon found Oddball (first models obtained from FG tough). And it took me to a whole new level. I'm currently in the process of purchasing the entire Murph's collection. But here is the thing... I don't feel a need to build more complex models. Did I hit my plateau?!? Did you hit your plateau? |

I have to say Airdave (Dave's Card Creations) is my favorite designer, followed close by Aaron Murphy (OddBall). But there are a lot of great designers out and about....Rich

FG actually started me into designing. I probably designed 7 or 8 of the models they offer (The Huey, S-51, S-55, H-19, B-10, Flying Barrel, Me-321/323, Nazi X-plane, plus a few others I can't recall off hand.

I'm not the one to ask. That's almost like having a favorite BBQ or Pizza. Paper model designs are as varied and wonderful as BBQ, pizza or favorite street.
Rejoice in all things paper!

Andrew Inwald, definitely, his quality is almost in par with Halinski and most importantly he offer them for free
Many, many thanks to him I'm still waiting for his Super Mystere to be released, for now i'm working on his Vautour. And i also highly recommend his Spitfire V

NOBI, Kampfflieger, and ModelArt are the ones I find go together with the most pleasing results, but there are a lot I haven't tried...

Hmmm, I'm going with AirDave, Nobi, Aaron, Ken West, Skyline, Roman, John Dell, and FG. No particular order, and I probably missed a few.
I prefer downloads so I can print additional pages due to my build errors. Gary

I'd say Uhu02 is my favorite "designer" because of his subject matter.
Everything I love, he does in paper. I don't see anything particularly "genius" in his work....just nice clean vector art. Simple but very effective colouring and textures. Designs that are often overcomplicated, but he designs to his own building abilities. The lack of proper Instructions infuriates me because I would like to finish some of his models. I'd have to say Nobi is my favorite aircraft designer. I like the varied complexity of his work. His finished products are very clean...and he provides Instructions! His designs are geared toward those who download and/or purchase his work. And that is important to me...designing for the masses, and not just myself (or one type of builder). Modelart designs are superior to many. Another favorite of mine. Honorable mentions: Ken West, John Dell, Marek and Johan Scherft. I don't know most of the European designers that design for Halinski, GPM and other publishers ...but they obviously know what they are doing!
