Marek's 1/50 Mig-15 bis

Here are some photos of my build of Marek's 1/50 Mig-15 bis. The "bis" or second version was largely produced in Poland, and used by Poland, so the markings are accurate.

As with all Marek kits, this one had perfect fit. In fact, I've been told that if a Marek-generated part doesn't fit, it's my fault, not his.....! The only issue, as pointed out by Squadron Signal's "Mig-15 in Action" is the gun camera which is not part of the kit. I added one on the top of the nose using 1/16" dowel.

Available in the U.S. as a digital download from DeWayne Barnett. I printed mine on Borden & Riley #234 108 lb. Paris Bleedproof Paper for Pens, from dickblick.com. It's the finest stuff I've ever found for paper models. Bill Geoghan, a stellar builder, told me about it.

Very nice.
I took note about the paper you are using. I'm always looking for other kind of paper for my next model, so I'll check this one. Thanks.

Many thanks for the paper recommendation! Got mine from dickblick.com today and it is without a doubt the finest card modelling paper I have seen. I reprinted a couple "special" models using the Borden & Riley and difference between it and the 67 lb index stock I was using is very visible and dramatic. I did some test folds, rolls and glue-ups and it is great stuff to work with. Thanks again for the tip!!!

Ron, glad you like the Borden & Riley paper. It is hard and cuts crisply. And, it prints nicely on inkjet printers. The only downside is that because it is hard, glue takes a bit longer to absorb and set. I find I am clamping glue joints a bit more, particularly on rolled aircraft fuselage sections.
