Buying from Orlik in Poland
In another thread I promised to report back on my purchase from Orlik. The package arrived today. It was very well packed and even though the USPS tried to smash it, they didn't succeed.
The models (three locomotives) are very nicely printed and will be fun to assemble. I got excellent customer service from them, including two emails almost immediately after I asked about how to buy. I got a tracking number that followed the package until it left Poland and it was sent signature required. I'm impressed and I'll be buying more models from them I'm sure. Good prices, reasonable shipping and good products with good customer service.

I used paypal. There's a bug in the software that causes an error if you attempt to check out using paypal. The folks at Orlik told me to check out as if you were going to send a check. That creates the order in their system and then you just send the paypal money to them using their address and refer to the order. Worked perfectly. There address is

This has likely been asked before, and is related to the above, but what about buying JSC kits? I did many years ago, and was pleased. Now, I find that even one $USD12 kit has over $USD 66.00 postage!!! Is there a US dealer for these?

Lee Anne, Paper Model Store has an ok selection of models, from many different producers (I say ok because I look for mainly aircraft models, and it appears they do not purchase many new models, could be wrong here), and they are based in the US.
I really like the selection GPM.pl has, quite a large selection and updated regularly, and their shipping charges are not outrageous.

Lee Anne, on the JSC website, if you shop in Euro instead of $US the postage charges are ok. There seems to be a bug in their system regarding postage and $US. I emailed JSC and they told me to do this. But I find buying JSC from Orlik is a bit cheaper anyway.

I am pretty sure the Paper Model Store (linked above) has not been responsive in fulfilling orders. I recall a recent thread I can't find right now in which someone has been trying to contact the owner of the website. If I find the thread, I'll link here.

I have recently do my third shopping with Orlik (this August!), and they never ceased to give satisfactory customer service. Highly reccomended!
(As shipping fee will be quite steep, I reccomended anyone who wanted to order to bulk-buying. Me myself get billed around 150 PLN (or around 35 USD), and for that I got 18 models. Win!) |
