Marek's 1/60 FW-190 D9

Here's a finished model version that most won't have seen before. Marek's 1/50 long-nose FW-190 D9 is modelled after a late-WWII German product. Again this one is printed on Borden & Riley stock, and the fit was a dream. I included the photograph of the underside so the unique nightfighter identification stripes could be viewed. Antenna is fine gray thread.

Available as a digital download from DeWayne Barnett's site.

Hard to find research info on this one. Only two sources that I know of: Heinz Nowarra's FW-190 volume (by Schiffer books) that is similar to the "in action" titles of Squadron Signal, and the Squadron Signal "Walk Around" publication.

That's all from me for awhile. But several had asked to see my efforts, and I have obliged them...Thanks for the kind comments.

Another nice build! Like the color scheme, too!

I thought the red and white stripes were used for Fw190s used for airfield defence to cover Me262 operations. The red and white scheme was (I think) supposed to identify the fighters for the airfield defence flak gunners.

Charlie

I'm actually not impressed with the colors - but it's a very nice clean build! Thanks for sharing.

CharlieC, you're absolutely right about the airfield defense business. The stripes wouldn't have helped in the daytime if the aircraft was at anything but the lowest altitude, but clearly showed up in the searchlights at night.
