USS CARD- From JSC

My new arrival from JSC,This is a redesigning of a 1992 model of this escort carrier.Kit consists of ;
8 pages of instructions and diagrams in english and polish;
8 sheets of parts;
2 sheets of laser cut frames;

The model uses a new method of construction where the hull frames are built as an internal box using laser cut parts, These parts are included in the model,There is an optional additional set of laser parts to purchase if you like for small parts ie doors,girders etc,The model consists of USS card with aircraft along with 3 Uboats.Instructions are written now by native english speaker so are very easy to follow with no reliance on auto translate .Personally i love this method of hull construction as it gives a very strong model with no fears of hull-warp.Really loooking forward to this one

I will enjoy watching your build. I bought a copy of the original kit in the 1990s and have yet to start it. It will be interesting to compare the differences in kit construction and hopefully pick up some knowledge on how best to tackle build challenges.

whole different ball game. You can see from diagrams whole hull inner construction is form by a rigid box in laser cut parts .these are standard with the model

Thanks for this review, Herky!

I almost completed the earlier version about 20 years ago, but stopped when I realized that the flight deck had a wave in it. This new construction method would preclude that problem.

I will buy this kit and may try to build it. I will enjoy seeing you build yours.

Assuming got me in trouble again! I didn't look at the diagrams: I just assumed that you were talking about a beefed up egg crate design. It probably would not fit the old kit, or if it did, it would probably not be cost effective to have a set shipped to the USA. I still want to watch your build thread.

the new model has this construction scheme and laser parts for hull included, the optional laser parts are seperate and for small parts

And so it begins . . .

That new framework will certain keep ripples out of the flight deck.

I like it... It looks better than the '92 versions I've seen. This is the ship that was sunk in the Saigon River, May of '64.
